Concerts

Below are the programs offered by the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra for the 2019-2020 season.

The Ragtime Masters – Our most popular concert program!
As America enters the 20th century, a new musical style is born: Ragtime! Explore this new world and tap your feet to the syncopated stylings of ragtime, theater, and dance music played off of the original orchestral scores. Featuring music by Irving Berlin, John Philip Sousa, George M. Cohan, Scott Joplin, and the rest of The Ragtime Masters!

Elite Syncopations: The Music of Scott Joplin Experience the “weird and intoxicating effect” of ragtime music as written by the King of Ragtime, Scott Joplin! Featuring his hits The Entertainer, Maple Leaf Rag, and music from the Academy Award winning film, The Sting!

NEW FOR 2020: Rhapsody In Ragtime: The Music of George Gershwin  The music of America’s legendary composer George Gershwin springs back to life, played off of the original orchestral scores! Sparkling instrumental and vocal favorites will be performed, along with stunning piano selections featuring Gershwin’s music from the 1910s and 1920s. Featuring hits like The Man I Love, I’ll Build A Stairway To Paradise, Swanee, Lady Be Good,  and ending with his masterpiece Rhapsody In Blue, this tribute to George Gershwin is perfect for all!
